Brian Wilson is a printmaker based in the city of Oakland, California whose work speaks to the intersection of nature and human innovation. Specializing in linocut, risograph, and woodcut, Wilson harnesses these mediums to explore themes of nature's beauty and power, being particularly drawn to the intricate balance between human innovation and the overwhelming force of nature, finding beauty in the moments where nature begins to reclaim what was once constructed by human hands. Beyond creating art, Wilson advocates for arts and education, particularly among youth, holding a firm belief in the transformative power of art in shaping young minds. Wilson is dedicated to showing his students how the process of art making can be more rewarding than the final outcome or product, and he is also currently working toward building a student-led printing studio within the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), aiming to provide young artists with access to resources and opportunities to explore their creative potential. As a member of the vibrant artistic community at Max's Garage Press, Wilson also collaborates with fellow artists to create and inspire.
